On September 12, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce of China and the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) co-hosted a seminar themed “Servicification and Trade in Services: Unlocking Opportunities for Developing Economies” during the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). The event brought together over 100 representatives from the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Development Research Center of the State Council, UNCTAD, the University of Adelaide, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as other government agencies, international organizations, universities, and business associations. During the seminar, participants exchanged views on two key topics, namely “The Role of Servicification in Structural Transformation” and “Bridging the Data Gap in Trade in Services”. Ms. Luz Maria de la Mora, Director of the Division on International Trade and Commodities at UNCTAD, released the “Primer on Data for Trade in Services and Development Policies”.
The seminar was organized by the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS). Zhao Weidong, Secretary-General of GATIS, along with Deputy Secretaries-General Chen Ning and Lu Lanping, attended the event.
