The GATIS Promotion Conference Successfully Held in Brazil

On November 5, 2025, the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) held a promotional event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Approximately 60 participants attended, including representatives from Brazilian government agencies, business associations and chambers of commerce, enterprises, and institutions. The event was jointly organized by GATIS and the Brazil-China Friendship Association, with support from the Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeirothe, Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front for Social, Economic, Financial Development, Entrepreneurship and International Relations , the Municipal Government of Juiz de Fora in Minas Gerais, the Federation of Foreign Trade Chambers (FCCE), Fundação Cesgranrio, the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Trading Platform, and the Brazil New Journey Business Center.

GATIS Secretary-General Zhao Weidong introduced GATIS and the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Guided by the principles of “openness, inclusiveness, innovation, and win-win cooperation,” GATIS actively promotes collaborative exchanges and think tank research, and facilitates the opening and integration of global services markets. He extended a cordial invitation to more Brazilian enterprises and business associations to join GATIS and participate in 2026 CIFTIS, working together to advance China-Brazil trade in services cooperation and promote the prosperity of global trade in services and sustainable growth of the world economy.

Jing Yanhui, Counselor at the Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, noted that China and Brazil can further strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism, culture, R&D and design, telecommunications, and intellectual property services, promote stability in industrial and supply chains, advance more balanced development of bilateral economic and trade relations, and open up new prospects for China-Brazil economic and trade cooperation, making new contributions to building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.

Speakers at the event included Margarida Salomão, Mayor of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais; Josimar da Silva Rodrigues, Mayor of Parma; Jadir Junior, Deputy Mayor of Santo Antônio de Pádua; Adair Carneiro, President of the Brazilian Federation of Foreign Trade Associations; Henrique Couto da Nóbrega, President of the Brazil-China Friendship Association; and Tan Chenghai, Director of the Beijing Global Trade in Services Development Promotion Center .

The successful holding of this GATIS promotion conference in Brazil has enhanced mutual understanding and communication between the two sides at the policy, market, and enterprise levels, and advanced China-Brazil trade in services cooperation to a higher level and greater depth. Moving forward, GATIS will continue to serve as a bridge and link, working together with all parties to jointly create a brighter future for the development of global trade in services.
