The Global Alliance for Trade in Services Holds Its First Policy Interpretation Seminar

To further meet the needs of members and improve the quality of member services, on May 16, 2024, the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) held its first "Policy Interpretation Seminar". The meeting revolved around the "Two Zones" construction policy in Beijing, with Li Weiwei, Secretary General of GATIS chairing the meeting. More than 70 people from more than 50 organizations including leaders of relevant committees, offices and bureaus, experts in the service trade field, and members of GATIS attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Du Lei, Director of the Comprehensive Coordination Division of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau ("Two Zones" Office), Zhuang Jianrong, Director of the International Economic Cooperation Division of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, Zhang Zhiming, Level IV Division Rank Official of the Information Management Division of the Beijing Communications Administration, and Wang Shijun, Level I Principal Staff Member of the Medical Service Management Division of the Beijing Municipal Medical Insurance Bureau, respectively gave detailed introductions of the overall situation and innovative achievements of the construction of the two zones in Beijing, especially the policy measures in their respective fields and the new opportunities brought by open development.

Lu Hongyan, Deputy Director of the Modern Supply Chain Research Institute of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, gave a special report on the "2.0 Plan for Building a National Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for Expanding Opening-up of the Service Sector and Connecting with International High-standard Economic and Trade Rules". The report deeply interpreted the development trend of global economic and trade rules, detailed the gap between China's current rules and international high-standard economic and trade rules, and proposed the path choice for China to connect with international high-standard economic and trade rules.

During the Q&A session, on-site members engaged in warm exchanges with experts in their respective fields, focusing on encouraging enterprises to go abroad and risk prevention, supporting key industries through policies in the two zones, and transforming and upgrading the manufacturing sector. Representatives attending the meeting expressed that the content of this meeting is detailed and full of valuable resources.

Next, GATIS will be committed to policy exchanges and promotion in multiple fields and at a deeper level in the service sector. Guided by enterprise needs and issues, it will build a bridge for government-enterprise communication, attract more overseas enterprises to settle in Beijing, and jointly promote the construction and rapid development of the two zones in Beijing as well as the development and growth of member enterprises.
