On May 21, the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) Reception for Foreign Diplomatic Missions and Rep. Offices of Countries and International Organizations was successfully held in Beijing. Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping and Vice Mayor of Beijing Sima Hong attended the event and delivered speeches. Myriam PAVAGEAU, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy in China, spoke on behalf of France, the guest country of honor for the 2024 CIFTIS. As one of the international cooperation partners of CIFTIS, the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) was invited to attend the event, represented by Secretary General Li Weiwei and colleagues from the Public Affairs Group.

Vice Minister Sheng Qiuping said that China is comprehensively advancing Chinese modernization with high-quality development. He emphasized that CIFTIS will continue to serve as a bridge and link for sharing China’s opportunities in the opening-up and development of trade in services with other countries, aiming to build consensus and gather strength for the development of the global service industry and trade in services.

Vice Mayor Sima Hong stated that the 2024 CIFTIS will be held in Beijing from September 12 to 16. Themed “Global Services, Shared Prosperity”, the event will emphasize its international, professional, and market-oriented characteristics, with a greater focus on facilitating trade at the exhibition. 

Minister Counsellor Myriam PAVAGEAU said that during CIFTIS, France will focus on the healthcare sector, hosting Sino-French health professional conferences and seminars related to sports services. These events will highlight economic prospects and present business opportunities in various fields for those interested in investing in France.

Pu Xuedong, Director of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, highlighted that the 2024 CIFTIS will emphasize new quality productivity and showcase future industry development trends. The fair will prominently display the new quality productivity in various service trade sectors, along with frontier achievements and application scenarios. It will also feature content related to the integration of service trade with modern services, high-end manufacturing, and modern agriculture, covering the entire industry chain.

The GATIS has consecutively hosted the Global Entrepreneurs Summit on Trade in Services and specialized exhibitions at CIFTIS for the past two years. In 2024, it plans to continue organizing high-level conferences and specialized exhibitions at 2024 CIFTIS to enhance the fair’s trade functions and jointly promote the development of international trade in services.
