Introduction to Global Alliance for Trade in Services

The Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) is a non-profit and non-governmental international organization voluntarily formed by chambers and associations, professional organizations, and enterprises in trade in services from different countries and regions around the world. GATIS was officially established following its First General Assembly and first Council election held on April 25, 2022.

Headquartered in Beijing, China, it is composed of General Assembly, Council and Secretariat. In the future, GATIS professional committees will be formed in due course, and its regional branches will also be established around the globe. Mr. Jiang Zengwei was elected as President of the first council of GATIS.

As an open platform for international cooperation, GATIS has three main functions: promoting exchange and cooperation, facilitating think tank research and conducting policy dialogue. Following the principle of neutrality, openness, inclusiveness, and innovation, GATIS mainly focuses on protecting the common interests of its members. GATIS is committed to serving enterprises, promoting the development of service industry, stepping up efforts to further exchanges and cooperation in international trade in services, fostering new business models and forms of service industry, and optimizing standards and rules for trade in services as well as promoting open, innovative, and integrated development of service industry.

GATIS launches the following initiatives: (1) to promote international exchange and cooperation; (2) to drive the opening up of trade-in-service markets; (3) to improve global rules on trade in services; (4) to accelerate the digitalization process of trade in services; (5) to advocate low-carbon, environmental development; (6) to pay attention to public health; (7) to support inclusive development for all; (8) to optimize international business environment; (9) to build capacities of talent development for trade in services.

GATIS now stands ready to work together with its members, innovating approaches and seizing opportunities for growth, and making positive contributions to the sound development of global trade in services and the prosperity of global economy as a whole.
